Bonhoeffer Cost of Disclipeship

To follow the Christ is free by grace and the costliest grace that one can receive free.

Monasticism in prior church history particularly in Catholicism for Bonhoeffer became a status quo to provide an excuse for the church following in its attendant few what the majority should have followed: the road of the cross. That road was in the reclused isolation of the monasteries, the cloister, and also the convents. Was there a cost in the cloister?
